87, of Springdale, Ark., entered her heavenly home Thursday, April 11, 2024, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born September 26, 1936, in Placerville, Calif., to Ruff and Quindora (Doodle) Arnold, both Arkansans. They lived in California for several years, working for the Navy, and returned to Arkansas after WWII.

Mauda Lee graduated from Harrison High School in 1953, and completed two years at the U of A Fayetteville. She and William R. This coming August would have been the couple’s 70th Anniversary. Together, they were parents of five children. She was a homemaker until their youngest child began school. She then worked in various retail and accounting roles at several firms in Harrison. Later, the couple moved to West Plains, Mo., and enjoyed many friends in the 24 years they spent there, especially at First Baptist Church of West Plains. The couple most recently moved to Springdale, Ark., in 2016, to be near family.

In her life, Mauda Lee volunteered and supported many PTA groups and civic organizations, including volunteer teaching of adult reading and English as a second language at NACC, Harrison Junior Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, and others. One of the last volunteer roles, which she enjoyed greatly, was volunteering in the church nursery in West Plains.

She was an avid beginning painter. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and knitting, the last of which she was very accomplished. She shared her talent by teaching free knitting classes for many years. She personally made and donated many newborn layette sets to Ozark Medical Center in West Plains.

She is survived by her husband, Bill (William R.) Shaddox, of the home; a brotherin-law, Robert F. Shaddox, of Harrison; five children: Bill Shaddox, Jr., of Chicago, Illinois, Cheri Marks (Mark), of Fayetteville, Ark.; Jim Shaddox (Robin), of Fayetteville, Ark.; Cindy Mix, of Fayetteville, Ark.; and Rick Shaddox, of Cass, Ark.; nine grandchildren: Nate Marks, Courtney Shaddox, Emily Shaddox, Francie Harris, Dana Mix, Christi Campbell, Ashley Ingram, Tori Shaddox, and Taylor Shaddox; 12 great-grandchildren; three nephews, one niece, and many beloved cousins.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville.

A visitation is planned for Sunday, April 14, 2-4 p.m. at Sisco Chapel, in Springdale, Ark. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Maplewood Cemetery, in Harrison, Ark., with the Reverends Robert F. Shaddox and Jim Arnold, Jr. officiating, and Diana Arnold, accompanist.
