Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
Elizabeth Galloway Moore Shackelford
• Date and place of birth: May 29, 1974 (almost the BIG 5-0!), Little Rock
• Family: Husband Scott Shackelford (married Nov. 2008) and our long-haired dachshunds, Wrigley and Margot Moore
• My favorite place in Northwest Arkansas: Hugo’s — where Scott and I had our first date AND he met my parents for the first time; but really, in ARKANSAS — my family’s condo at Baywood Colony on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. It has been in my family for more than 60 years.
• A typical Saturday night for me includes: Out to dinner with Scott, then home in our jammies with the pups on my lap and watching a movie!
• The best way to help the children in our community is: Have open ears and open eyes to life’s dangers and keep your hearts open. Help those who’ve been hurt and do your part to protect our children!
• Something the Children’s Safety Center always needs: Handprint paint & financial donations (there’s always a fundraiser!)
• The last show I binged on television was: Vanderpump Rules
• Four people I would invite to my fantasy dinner party: My mom’s mother, Phyllis Patton of Dallas, who passed away before I was born, Prince, John F. Kennedy and Mother Teresa.
• The best advice I’ve ever received: From my mom, I think of it daily: “Look to your future and do not be frightened, but think of it as another step forward. Take the leap and do what you want. Your dad and I will always be there should you stumble.”
• People might be surprised to find out that: I didn’t always take my parents’ advice or follow their rules, as a teen.
• My greatest accomplishment is: My concrete handprint in front of the new CSC building. Emily and I worked together to successfully achieve the CSC’s Capital Campaign, “Healing the Future.”
• The question people ask me the most (and its answer): “What would you like in your coffee?” Cream and Sweet ‘N Low
• The thing that makes me laugh the most: When I am with my sister Jacque and my brother Richard. We can make each other ugly cry from laughing so hard — at one of our expenses — always!
• Three words to sum me up: Loyal, caring, humble
• Something I think everyone should try at least once: Handwriting a thank-you note.
