Register Now to Attend Charlotte’s Inaugural Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Charlotte, N.C. -- The Charlotte 49ers invite you to our Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, recognizing our distinguished inaugural class. Seven members will be inducted into the 49ers Athletic Hall of Fame, Friday, Sept. 9. The evening will begin with a reception and silent auction at 6 p.m. followed by the dinner and program at 7 p.m. The event will take place on campus at the Popp Martin Student Union.
Charlotte will celebrate the achievements of four standout student-athletes: Men’s Soccer’s Jon Busch, Men’s Basketball’s Cedric Maxwell, Men’s Golfer Corey Nagy and Women’s Track and Field athlete Shareese Woods. In addition, longtime Director of Athletics Judy Rose and contributor Dale Halton will be honored along with former men’s basketball coach Lee Rose, who will be inducted, posthumously.
A first team All-America, Busch led Charlotte to the 1996 NCAA Div. I National Semifinals. Maxwell keyed the 49ers’ NIT Finalist season of 1976 and NCAA Final Four appearance in 1977. Nagy was a part of two NCAA Division I Top 10 finishes when Charlotte placed third at the NCAA Championships in 2007 and eighth in 2008. Woods, who owns a bronze medal from the 2006 Indoor Track World Championships, led Charlotte to four conference titles while earning multiple Athlete of the Year and All-America honors.
Judy Rose oversaw incredible across-theboard success and growth for the 49ers, as well as a facilities explosion and the addition of football during her 28 years as AD. Halton has been a key supporter and fan of the 49ers whose prints can be seen on a number of the 49ers’ athletic facilities.
Lee Rose coached the 49ers during the mid-70s, guiding Charlotte to the finals of the 1976 NIT and to the inaugural Sun Belt Conference Championship and ultimate run to the 1977 NCAA Final Four.
Parking for the event will be available in the Union Parking Deck, adjacent to the Student Union. Attendees can purchase individual tickets for $125 or a table of eight for $1000 by visiting the Hall of Fame registration page.
