Open for business: Newton Development Services Center to improve efficiency, spur growth
Citizens are invited to a ribbon cutting and grand opening on Nov. 1
The City of Newton is pleased to announce the opening of the Newton Development Services Center, a public facility designed to benefit homeowners, business owners, contractors, and developers as they plan and build projects that support this vibrant community. Everyone is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the new center, which is located at 135 North College Ave.
The center brings together under one roof members of city staff whose work facilitates development, thus creating an efficient hub for economic growth initiatives. City leaders anticipate the center will promote more seamless processes during permitting, plan review, and development, which will make projects of any size—from DIY home renovations to planned communities with hundreds of new homes— easier for everyone.
“The Development Services Center is a testament to Newton’s dedication to growing our economy and providing our citizens with streamlined access to the services they need,” Newton Mayor Eddie Haupt said. “We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this important milestone.”

Office relocations: Economic development professionals who worked in separate buildings and facilities will now work side-byside at the center.
