-

With the release of his debut novel, Mark Pennell delivers the adventure of a lifetime for four friends, brimming with mysterious clues that may hold the key to saving the world.

The Catawba County Library invites the community to gather at the Main Library in Newton for an author visit with Mark Pennell on Wednesday, November 15 at 6 pm. This event will include a book discussion and signing of Into the Fog of Charon. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

The story of Into The Fog of Charon came to fruition in 1986 but wasn’t published until earlier this year. The original writings were boxed up and forgotten in a closet while Pennell was busy raising his family. After being rediscovered in early 2020, Pennell breathed new life into the story. He reworked and rewrote as needed until he had a story he was ready to share.

Into the Fog of Charon is Pennell’s first novel, and the first in the Charon Trilogy. Pennell has already started writing the next book in the series and is excited to share the continued adventures of Jim and Danielle, Quincy and Kim.

Mark Pennell is a local author, residing in Catawba

County. Pennell is a graduated of Newton-Conover High School and now serves on the Newton-Conover City Schools Board of Education, along with serving as Vice Chair for the Newton Performing Arts Center. Meet Pennell and learn more about his journey to becoming an author on Wednesday, November 15 at 6 pm at the Main Library in Newton, 115 West C Street.
