LANNY WOODROW HARTSOE

Lanny Woodrow Hartsoe, age

76, of Newton passed away peacefully at Catawba Valley Medical

Center December 4, 2023 after an extended illness. Lanny was born on December 12, 1946 in

Catawba County son of the late

Woodrow Sylvanis Hartsoe and

Elvera Setzer Hartsoe. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Derek Huffman and a niece, Tammy Saunders.

Lanny was a life long member of Old St Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served in many positions taking care of the church. He was employed by Broyhill Furniture Industries­Conover Plant for 23 years, at Care Plan Internatio­nal then started his own Home Repairs and Maintenanc­e Business until he retired.

Lanny loved to go deer hunting with his extended Howell Family in Pinetown and Washington, N.C. This year was the first time in 57 years he missed going.

He will always be remembered for being there to help others in any way he could, whether it was family or friends. You Could depend on him to be there. He was a very loving and caring person and will be dearly missed.

Children: Paege Hartsoe Abernathy (husband, Clayton), Amy Hicks Scaer (husband, Tim) and J. Kelly Hicks (wife, Lisa) Grandchild­ren: Jessica Abernathy Ledford (Husband, Brandon), Caleb Welch (wife Brianna), Samatha (Sammi) Scaer, Megan Hicks Woods (husband, Michael) and Katey Hicks

Great grandchild­ren: Hazel June Ledford, Everleigh Joy Welch and Everette Myles Woods

Sisters: Juda Shook (husband, Lloyd and Nelda Huffman (husband, Larry)

Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Old St Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Miller officiatin­g. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Burke Mortuary in Newton.

In Honor of Lanny’s Love for “Happy” socks, the family asked that you bring a new pair for donation to a charity of their choice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old St. Paul’s Lutheran Church General Fund, 2035 Old Conover-Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658
