PEGGY JEAN ISAAC

Peggy Jean Isaac, 81, of Newton passed away on Thursday,

December 14, 2023 at Catawba

Valley Medical Center in Hickory.

She was born September 1,

1942 in Catawba County to the late Charlie and Eva Yount Isaac.

Peggy was an active member of

Trinity Baptist Church in Newton and retired from Newton Conover City School system where she was a custodian. She served as Commander of the Newton Post 16 and Sergeant of Arms for Honor Guard, enjoyed spending time with her family and walking the town of Newton.

Those left to cherish her memory are;

Son: Michael Payne and wife Tammy of Newton Grandchildren: Kelli Payne (Ashton Hubbard, fiance), Michelle Strickland (Dillon), Brittany Payne, and Christopher Payne

Great-Grandchildren: Dean Lucas Payne and Case Maverick Strickland

Sisters: Patricia Travis of Newton

Alma Kiziah and husband Mickey of Granite Falls

Lottie Anderson of Moravian Falls

A service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Newton. Rev. Don Gordon will officiate. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 16 will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church. Those serving as pallbearers are Christopher Payne, Chester Anderson, John Anderson, Jeffery Huffman, Ashton Hubbard, Harlan Sterling, and members of Post 16.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 725 W 13th St., Newton, NC 28658
