Foothills Kids Magazine elects local CPA, Sabrina Parris, to Board of Directors and seeks new volunteers to support mission
Foothills Kids Magazine, a non-profit organization that provides free educational content to western North Carolina students, announces the election of Sabrina Parris, CPA, to the organization’s Board of Directors and seeks new volunteers to support its mission of educating local children about their community.
Parris, a Hickory resident, is the owner of Honeycomb State Tax Strategies where she helps tax professionals navigate state and local taxes. A mother to a sixth-grader at Grandview Middle School, Parris teaches accounting part-time at Catawba Valley Community College.
Parris is passionate about financial literacy and volunteers with local Girl Scouts to empower young minds with essential skills. She also assists the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in a volunteer capacity.
Says Creative Editor-inChief Carmen Eckard who brainstormed Foothills Kids, “We welcome Sabrina and her financial savvy and broad experience to our board— she was accepted by unanimous consent. We are excited to have her volunteer and guide us.”
Parris joins other local leaders on the board, including Roseann Flowers, Monica Parache-Douthit, Sarah Koenig, Tracy Hall, Patrick Broos, Dr. Wayne Powell, Thomas Flowers, and Nathan Cooley, in shaping organizational policy at Foothills Kids.
Foothills Kids seeks new volunteers—of all ages and experiences—to help create content and fulfill its localfocused educational mission. Interested parties should contact editor@foothillsdigest.com.
