-

Phifer Family YMCA proudly announces the introduction of the Livestrong© Program in Morganton, a 12-week initiative offered at no-cost and designed to provide holistic support for adults navigating life with, through, and beyond cancer. This program, offered for the first time at Phifer Family YMCA, will begin in April, aiming to empower participants to regain their physical and emotional well-being.

The Livestrong© Program is a testament to Phifer Family YMCA’s commitment to fostering a community that supports and uplifts individuals facing the challenges of cancer. The program spans 12 weeks, featuring two weekly sessions that combine physical activities, group discussions, and personalized coaching to address the unique needs of each participant.

“We are thrilled to bring Livestrong© to Phifer Family YMCA and the Morganton community. This evidencebased health initiative goes beyond traditional fitness programs, offering a supportive environment for adults affected by cancer to regain strength, build connections, and embark on their journey towards recovery,” said Lala Kozischek, Corporate Wellness Director for YMCA of Catawba Valley.

The Livestrong© Program is open to individuals of all fitness levels and stages of cancer recovery. Participants will engage in a variety of activities aimed at improving strength, flexibility, and overall well-being. The program also emphasizes the importance of fostering a sense of community and mutual support. Sessions will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm - 7:00pm and consist of topics such as “The Things that Make Me Most Happy” and “The Future I See For Myself” as well as a Nutrition seminar, Mobile Kitchen class and sleep and anxiety discussions. The topics each session are led by certified instructors and allow participants to further develop their mind, spirit, and body. A medical clearance form is required from each interested participant from their medical provider in order to join the program.
