Hickory City Schools Dual Language Immersion program is designed to provide students unique opportunities to become bilingual, biliterate, and culturally competent individuals. This program has limited availability.
The primary objectives of the Dual Language Immersion program include:
Cultivating Bilingualism and Biliteracy: Students enrolled in the program will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that facilitates language acquisition and literacy development in both English and Spanish.
Achieving Grade-Level Academic Proficiency: Through rigorous instruction and immersive learning experiences, students will attain academic proficiency at or above grade level in both languages, ensuring they are well-prepared for future academic endeavors.
Promoting Cultural Competence: The program aims to foster an appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives by integrating cultural content and promoting cross-cultural understanding among students.
