Supervisory Certification Graduation at Catawba Valley Community College

On the afternoon of Thursday, April 11th, eleven students graduated from the Supervisory Certification program at Catawba Valley Community College.

The Supervisory Certification program, led by instructors Cindy Jarvis, Rusty Beam, and Gary Muller, is one of the short-term training programs provided by the CVCC Corporate Development Center. The course explores workplace communication, employee relations and law, roles of supervisors, financial overviews, and several other topics. Students also attend sessions with guest speakers and receive the opportunity to tour local businesses.

Graduates included Itamar Braun (Sarstedt); Xiong Chang (ZF Chassis Components); Phillip Chappell (Turbotec Products); Lucy Chasengnoy (Turbotec Products); Manoj Kumar Ghetia (Plastiflex North Carolina); Tommy Hartsell, Jr. (Turbotec Products); Samantha Lanier (HSM); Ernest Mudd, II (Plastiflex North Carolina); Luis Perez (Vanguard Furniture); Daria Dewayne Ramseur (Sarstedt); and Jessica Thomas (Turbotec Products).

Each graduate received a Supervisory Certificate from CVCC and 6.4 Continuing Education Unit hours.

Daria Ramseur, Supervisory Certification graduate and employee of Sarstedt, was the first to share his experience and reflect on what he had learned during the 8-month course. “I want thank my employers at Sarstedt, my classmates, and especially the instructors,” Ramseur said. “Gary, Rusty, and Cindy—you left an impact on me. Not only did you teach us knowledge, but also, you shared your personal experiences.” Training through experience is a positive way to encourage and equip students for success, especially in a short-term program.

“I am grateful for my team at Turbotec,” said Jessica Thomas, program graduate. “I have been at the bottom and worked my way to the top, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn what I have learned.”

“I believe you can be heroes in your own right,” said Cindy Jarvis, program instructor. “Your companies have valued you and allowed you to train with us, and it has been a privilege to work with you. I recognize your excellence, and

I recognize that you will use the training you have received to leave an impact on the lives of those you lead.”
