Ranked number 7, Garbiñe Muguruza took Paris by storm, and we don’t mean at the stores on Champs Elysee. The venue- Roland-garros. The event- Women’s Finals. Yes, Muguruza sealed the deal with her breakthrough win of 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Serena Williams to become the champion at the French Open! This 6’ foot achiever worked it until clinching the trophy in the fifth match point! At 22-years-old, she became the first Spanish woman to win a Grand Slam since Arantxa Sanchez at the 1998 French Open. Did I mention what a huge accomplishment this was to defeat Williams since Serena was a fav of Muguruza’s growing up? Dreams coming true right before our eyes.
