Wawrinka ended his third straight year at No. 4, following his US Open victory and his semifinal showing at the French Open. He produced his 400th career win in 2016 and claimed four ATP titles, adding to his total of 15. Reaching a careerhigh ranking of No. 3 mid season, Wawrinka captured titles in Dubai, Chennai and Geneva during the 2016 season and was a finalist in St. Petersburg. His history in Miami allows for two fourth round appearances in 2009 and 2014, falling in the second round last year. In his first event of 2017 he reached the semifinals of the Brisbane International and should be in contention for his best tournament yet on Key Biscayne.
