Monfils, one of the most entertaining players on the ATP tour, recorded his first top 10 year-end ranking in 2016 finishing at a career-high No. 6. Entering 2016 at No. 24, the Frenchman earned the biggest title of his career in Washington at the ATP World Tour 500, bringing his total to six. Monfils produced his second ever Grand Slam semifinal appearance at the US Open and his first Australian quarterfinal finish last year. Having advanced to his first ATP Masters 1000 final in Monte Carlo last year, Monfils could see his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Miami in 2017. His best finish in the tournament came last year when he reached the quarterfinals.
