SET THE MAGIC CITY ON FIRE, SHOWCASING THE SIZZLING NEW LOOKS OF THE SEASON.

- BY KATIE JACKSON

Miami Swim Week set the Magic City on fire, showcasing the sizzling new looks of the moment.

While the 305 plays host to celebrities and starlets yearround, Miami Swim Week brings the globe-trotting glitterati to our Magic City all at once for seven days of presentations, previews, and exclusive parties. This year, that meant sitting front row next to Tyson Beckford while watching swimsuit model superstars like Joy Corrigan and Sofia Jamora strut the Funkshion and Swimmiami runways; shopping the latest sunglass styles alongside Gossip Girl star and fashion icon Leighton Meester; and popping Champagne with Leonardo Dicaprio at the South Beach hot spot Doheny Room at The Delano. Even reality TV star Brody Jenner returned to man the ones and twos for his annual Swim Week bash at the 24/7 showclub E11EVEN.

If you missed out on the excitement, don’t fret. Ocean Drive recounts the latest and greatest swim designs and beachwear brands shown at this year’s extravaganza.

THROWING SHADES

Miami is famous for its bright, bold hues, and this year’s colorful collections didn’t disappoint. The Stay Golden line from Lolli Swim (@Lolliswim) was brimming with vivid floral prints and cotton-candy colors. The Hills star, blogger, and now swimwear designer Audrina Patridge made her debut with her brand Prey Swim (@Preyswim),

featuring bold yellow tones and hand-drawn gingham prints. At The Setai Miami Beach, Maaji (@Maajiswimwear) and Seafolly (@Seafollyaustralia) collaborated on a runway presentation boasting vibrant multicolored stripes on low-cut onepieces and flowing cover-ups. If sparkle is your thing, the glittering sequined bikinis of Liliana Montoya (@Lilianamontoyaswim) were made for the girl who loves to shine, while the models (aka #Lulibabes) of Luli Fama (@Lulifamaswimwear) dazzled in Miami designer Lourdes “Luli” Hanimian’s whimsical one- and twopiece fashions.

SULTRY AND SOPHISTICATED

Other standout brands opted for understated hues and travel-inspired looks. The 1111 rooftop runway show from Acacia (@Acacia)—where the models flaunted high and low cuts in neutral tones— was on everyone’s radar (and Insta-stories). Further north, Mikoh (@Mikohswimwear) took over the 1 Hotel South Beach, showing off its simple yet stylish staple pieces with delicate braided details. The fashionista favorite Indah (@Indahclothing) flew guests straight to the beaches of Ibiza as its Resort 2018 collection captured the brand’s boho-chic vibe with loose long-sleeved tops and teeny bikini bottoms meant for today’s jetsetting woman. Over at the Miami Beach Convention Center, the 35th annual Swimshow

(@Safswimshow) showcased more than 2,000 established and emerging designers. Top looks included new muted and solid one-piece styles from Red Carter

(@Redcarterswim), gold-bejeweled bikinis by Sauvage

(@Sauvageswimwear), and the signature sexymeets-sporty suits of Skye (@Skyeswimwear), just as perfect for a game of beach volleyball as for sipping cocktails at the bar.

BARELY THERE

Perhaps one of the most talked-about shows was Frankies Bikinis

(@Frankiesbikinis), which transported guests back to the ’90s as the models rocked sexy and strappy styles in girly colors—complete with flip phones and

Sex and the City-inspired feathered heels. The models of Montce Swim

(@Montce_swim) strode the catwalk in lightly colored high-waisted bottoms and flouncy skirts paired with itty-bitty tops. At the W Hotel South Beach, Soluna Swim

(@Solunaswim) offered Swim Week goers a relaxing respite with the #Solunaspa (which included massages and free-flowing mimosas) while showcasing the line’s ultrafemme designs, debuting later this year. And back at the tents, the beloved boutique Planet Blue (@Shopplanetblue)

showed hotter-than-hot suits from its very own label Blue Life

(@Shopbluelife),

featuring string and gold-chain details for the girl who dares to bare. Can you say “Swim Week slayed”?
