Universal to debut new ‘Bourne’ show
“The Bourne Stuntacular,” a live stage show, will officially debut at Universal Studios theme park on Tuesday, June 30, Universal Orlando Resort announced Saturday afternoon.
The production, based on characters and circumstances from the Jason Bourne movie franchise, features action on and above the stage, backed by a giant screen that enhances the effects. The attraction has been in “technical rehearsal” for a few weeks, allowing some theme-park visitors to preview the show.
The new attraction is produced in the building that was home to the “Terminator 2: 3-D” show.
On Monday, June 29, Universal will present a preview on its YouTube channel, beginning at 7 p.m. It will include guests from the films and a behind-thescenes look at the making of “Stuntacular.”
Universal Studios, along with sister attractions Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay, reopened from their coronavirus shutdowns on June 5. Since then, the parks have added health and safety measures such as requiring employees and visitors to wear face coverings, a mandate that will apply to “Bourne” show.
“The Bourne Stuntacular” will be the first attraction to debut in Orlando’s theme parks since the shutdowns, which began in midMarch.
Other measures that Universal has added for indoor theaters include extra spacing between parties, choreographed exit procedures to prevent congestion, and the sanitizing of “high-touch surfaces” between shows. The theater’s capacity will be reduced, and that may make wait times longer than usual, Universal says.
Additional theme park projects that were nearing completion when the shutdowns began include the Ice Breaker roller coaster at SeaWorld Orlando and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Epcot the new
