Players for the Thorns and Courage knelt during the national anthem Saturday when the National Women’s Soccer League opened the Challenge Cup tournament in Utah.

Players wore Black Lives Matter T-shirts in warmups before the game, which was nationally televised on CBS. In addition to the anthem, the players knelt for a moment of silence.

“We took a knee today to protest racial injustice, police brutality and systemic racism against Black people and people of color in America. We love our country and we have taken this opportunit­y to hold it to a higher standard. It is our duty to demand that the liberties and freedoms this nation was founded upon are extended to everyone,” the Thorns and Courage said in a joint statement released before the game.

Golf: Brendon Todd and Dustin Johnson each shot career-low 61s at the Travelers Championsh­ip on Saturday, leaving Todd with a two-stroke lead over the 2016 U.S. Open champion. The 34-year-old Georgian had a chance at the tournament’s second 60 of the week but missed a 10-foot putt to the left on the 18th hole. He finished with a 54-hole score of 192, 18-under par.

MLB: The reigning World Series champion Nationals are slated to host the Yankees when baseball returns. The matchup between last year’s champion and this year’s co-favorite is set to take place on Opening Day at Nationals Park, although Major League Baseball has yet to finalize an official schedule.

The New York Post was first to report the Opening Day matchup.

NASCAR: Kevin Harvick won the Pocono 325 in the NASCAR Cup Series on Saturday. Harvick outlasted Denny Hamlin, who finished second, and Aric Almirola, who took third.
