- By Iliana Limón Romero

FC Dallas’ opening MLS is Back Tournament match against the Vancouver Whitecaps has been postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases on the Dallas squad.

FCD has been hit the hardest by the virus, with Dallas blog 3rddegree.net reporting another case Friday to bring the total who tested positive for COVID-19 in Orlando to 11 — 10 players and one coach. MLS also announce Vancouver had two cases.

MLS did not set a new date for the match, but both will now play their first matches on July 15. FC Dallas will play the Seattle

Sounders at 9 a.m. and the Vancouver Whitecaps will face the San Jose Earthquakes at 10:30 p.m.

It may not be the only schedule alteration MLS is forced to make.

Toronto FC announced it called off plans to fly to Orlando because a member of the travel party reported symptoms. The person was isolated at home and is being assessed by team medical staff. The TFC squad can’t fly to Orlando until it registers another round of negative tests.

The late arrival and relatively long coronavirus incubation period will force MLS to decide whether to delay Toronto’s first match to do more testing once the team is Orlando or risk exposing

At least 10 FC Dallas players have tested positive for COVID-19.

another team to virus if it has surfaced TFC tests yet.

Toronto coach Greg Vanney had previously said he didn’t want to travel to Orlando early because the coronavirus was much more under control in Canada.

All players who tested positive in Orlando have been moved to an isolated portion of the hotel and are being evaluated by a physician, in accordance with the MLS coronavirus protocol.
