Lawsuit targets GOP convention

- By Richard Tribou

Several residents and business owners in Jacksonville have filed a lawsuit to try and block the Republican National Convention in its current planned form from being held in the city, according to a report from The Florida

Times-Union.

The newspaper said an attorney filed the suit on their behalf with claims they would be harmed by the planned Aug. 24-27 event that would mark President Donald Trump’s acceptance of the Republican party’s nomination to run for president.

The lawsuit says plans for thousands of people at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena would be a nuisance that threatens area residents’ health, and seeks for it to become a smaller event with required masks and social distancing, the TimesUnion reported.
