Shepherd’s Hope presents Mask-R-Aid, a broadcast event honoring its healthcare heroes: On Oct. 24, members of the community, business leaders and supporters will gather at viewing locations across the country for an exciting broadcast event to celebrate the Healthcare Heroes of Shepherd’s Hope that will provide the support necessary for maintaining resilience during COVID-19. Throughout the evening, Shepherd’s Hope will honor their 2020 healthcare heroes, provide a variety of entertainment with interactive elements, and feature a silent and live auction. Central Florida Veg Fest: Vegetarians of Central Florida is hosting two days of mini fests at three locations across town. There will be food, local vendors, along with safe activities and entertainment at each location. The event is free, kidfriendly, pet-friendly, and smoke-free. Masks are mandatory. ‘Howl-O-Ween’ 2020 virtual canine costume contest: The event will feature online Peer to peer fundraising, an online pet costume photo contest, a Zoom call on Oct. 24. Access to the Zoom meet up will be $5 per person-but individuals who raise( or donate )$50 and packs whor aise (or donate) $500 will get free access. There will be a contest for best Howl-O-Ween Zoom background, trivia, bingo, a virtual scavenger hunt, and more. Costume contest winners will be announced aswell as top individual and team fundraisers. Young Adult Grief Group: Presented by New Hope for Kids. This safe virtual setting is designed to provide young adults, ages19-25, with an environment where they will be supported by peers and given the opportunity to participate in conversations to help them heal and adjust to their new normal. Haunted Tours: In this time of plague, our Haunted Tours will be socially distanced for your protection. Installation Opening: The Morse Museum has acquired Louis Comfort Tiffany’s singular iron fireplace hood that he designed and fabricated around1885. The work was thought to be lost in the fire that consumed much of Laurelton Hall, Tiffany’s legendary estate, in1957. Air Plant Wreath Workshop: Air plants, called tillandsias, are interesting plants that make attractive home decorations. Join horticulturist Pinky Ormand for this fun DIY class to learn about these plants, and take home a beautiful wreath.
