2021 TV: New show lineup includes Marvel series, game shows

The new year brings with it new television shows. Here are a few fresh offerings heading to television and streaming services in early 2021.

Jan. 3

“Call Me Kat” on Fox: A woman (Mayim Bialik) struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that she can still live a happy and fulfilling life despite still being single at 39. Premieres at 8 p.m.

Jan. 5

“Gabby’s Dollhouse” on Netflix: Kitty enthusiast Gabby and her sidekick Pandy Paws team up for a series of animated adventures.

Jan. 6

“Name That Tune” on Fox: This revival of the one-hour game show tests contestant­s’ music knowledge, as they compete for cash and prizes. Premieres at 9 p.m.

Jan. 7

“Go-Big Show” on TBS: This extreme talent show features monster trucks, alligator trainers, stunt archery and other radical feats. Contestant­s battle head-to-head to impress celebrity judges Snoop Dogg, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Nettles and Cody Rhodes and advance toward the finale’s $100,000 prize. Premieres at 9 p.m.

“Coyote” on CBS All Access: A border patrol agent is forced to work for the people he spent his career trying to keep out of America.

“Mr. Mayor” on NBC: A retired businessma­n (Ted Danson) runs for mayor of Los Angeles to prove he’s “still got it.” Premieres at 8 p.m.

“The Hustler” on ABC: This show hosted by host, actor, writer and comedian Craig Ferguson breaks the game show mold by featuring one player who secretly knows the answers. Premieres at 10 p.m.

Jan. 13

“Call Your Mother” on ABC: As an empty-nester mom (Kyra Sedgwick) reinserts herself into her family’s lives, her kids realize they might need her more than they thought. Premieres at 9:30 p.m.

Jan. 15

“WandaVisio­n” on Disney Plus: Super-powered beings Wanda Maximoff and Vision live idealized suburban lives, but begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Jan. 21

“Walker” on The CW: A reboot of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” this show follows a widowed father (Jared Padalecki) who returns to Austin after two years to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his family and find common ground with his new partner, while growing suspicious of his wife’s death. Premieres at 8 p.m.

Jan. 29

“The Dig” on Netflix: In this period drama set before World War II, a wealthy widow hires an archaeolog­ist to excavate her estate and they stumble upon something that has the potential to change their lives.

Jan. 31

“The Long Song” on PBS: This three-part miniseries based on Andrea Levy’s award-winning novel about the end of slavery in Jamaica follows an indomitabl­e, young slave who works on a sugarcane plantation with her detestable mistress. Premieres at 10 p.m.

Feb. 5

“The Snoopy Show” on Apple TV Plus: Dive into new adventures with Snoopy, who’s joined by best friend Woodstock and the Peanuts gang.

Feb. 7

“The Equalizer” on CBS: An enigmatic figure (Queen Latifah) uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. Premieres at 10 p.m.

Feb. 11

“Clarice” on CBS: A deep dive into the untold personal story of FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field six months after the events of “The Silence of the Lambs.” Premieres at 10 p.m.

Feb. 17

“I Survived a Crime” on A&E: Go on a journey into the experience of being a victim of a sudden crime, from the moment those attacked first perceive the danger through the potential long-lasting effects. Premieres at 10 p.m.

Feb. 23

“Superman & Lois” on The CW: Superman and famed journalist Lois Lane face the challenges of being working parents in today’s society. Premieres at 9 p.m.

March 19

“The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” on Disney Plus: Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) team up in a global adventure.

April 5

“Hemingway” on PBS: This three-part series explores the life and work of the legendary writer and his influence on literature and culture.
