Caroline Wells

Winter Springs, senior

- By Buddy Collings Orlando Sentinel

It was hardly noticeable while Wells kept racking up distance event victories, but she was in less-than-perfect condition. Glute issues forced the Stanford signee to do physical therapy (without running at all) between her district meet and the FHSAA finals. But nothing stopped her from preserving a 41-race, in-state winning streak. That dates 2½ years to her runner-up finish in a 2019 state cross country final. Wells gutted out repeat state meet victories in the 1,600 (4 minutes, 50.56 seconds) and 3,200 (10:32.22).
