Bell’s final-play TD lifts Steelers

Le’Veon Bell scored on a 1-yard touchdown run Monday out of the Wildcat on the game’s final play to give the Steelers a 24-20 victory over the host Chargers.

In a wild fourth quarter that began with the Steelers up 10-7 thanks to Antwon Blake’s 70-yard intercepti­on return for a score, Michael Vick tossed a 72-yard touchdown to Markus Wheaton to tie it at 17. Philip Rivers had hit Antonio Gates for an 11-yard score 20 seconds earlier. It was Gates’ second TD and the 101st of his career.

Freeney rushes in: The Cardinals signed outside linebacker Dwight Freeney to a one-year contract. The move comes after the Cardinals’ top outside pass rusher, Alex Okafor, went down with a strained calf in Sunday’s 42-17 victory against the Lions. He could miss up to six weeks. Freeney, 35, a seven-time Pro Bowler, has 1111⁄2 career sacks. LB Kenny Demens also suffered a season-ending torn ACL.

Luck all in: Colts QB Andrew Luck was a full participan­t in Monday’s practice for the first time in two weeks, though his availabili­ty for Sunday’s game with the Patriots remains unknown. He has missed two games with a sore right shoulder, both Colts victories. Practice wasn’t open to the media and Luck wouldn’t go into detail about what he did.

“More,” Luck said. “Absolutely, definitely more. It was the same sort of how we would always do on a Monday, split between Matt Hasselbeck and I.”

Cowboys roundup: WR Dez Bryant was given an injection of stem cells from the bone marrow in his hip to accelerate the healing in his broken right foot, according to owner Jerry Jones. Coach Jason Garrett said the team will evaluate the QB position during their off week. Matt Cassel could replace Brandon Weeden.

Hurting Browns: Browns CB Joe Haden likely will miss one game with a concussion. He is already playing with a broken right ring finger. QB Josh McCown said he will continue to receive treatment on his left ankle.

Ware forced to sit: Broncos LB DeMarcus Ware has a strained back, according to NFL.com, and he’s expected miss about two weeks. The Broncos face the Browns on Sunday before their open date.

News not all bad: Rams DE Chris Long has a hyperexten­ded knee and will probably miss a couple of weeks but his ACL and MCL are OK. The Rams are off this week.

Extra points: Saints WR Marques Colston suffered a separated shoulder and also could have some structural damage, according to NFL.com. ... Jaguars QB Blake Bortles suffered a Grade 1 sprain in his shoulder early in Sunday’s game but played through it. He is expected to start Sunday against the Texans, who said DE Jadeveon Clowney (ankle) is day to day. ... The Chiefs said an MRI confirmed RB Jamaal Charles tore the ACL in his right knee and he is done for the season. ... Bills RB Cierre Wood will miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury.
