Seminoles’ Maguire wows Fisher
TALLAHASSEE — FSU quarterback Sean Maguire impressed coach Jimbo Fisher Saturday.
The junior completed 12 of 17 passes for two touchdowns and 152 yards in about a half of play.
Although he took some shots in the pocket and made some errant throws, Fisher generally liked the way Maguire handled himself.
“Sometimes I wish he would get rid of it just a hair quicker every now and then,” Fisher said. “But he does [stand in the pocket]. He tries to make plays, but played an outstanding game, made good decisions. Got down the field well and did a nice job.”
Fisher said Maguire was feeling “fine” after taking a few hard hits.
It was Maguire’s first start since being named FSU’s top quarterback last week.
Safety Nate Andrews had a resurgent game against Chattanooga. He had been playing sparingly since suffering a bone bruise in his right knee against Wake Forest in October. He also played without a club on his right hand for the first time all season, though he did wear a brace on the hand.
Andrews had four tackles, a sack and a quarterback hurry.
Key reserve linebacker Ro’Derrick Hoskins suffered a knee injury, according to Fisher. He left the game in the second half after hurting his medial collateral ligament.
