True Health opens Casselberr­y clinic

True Health, a nonprofit community health center, is opening a walk-in clinic at 1120 State Road 436 in Casselberr­y.

True Health which opens on Dec. 1, will care for minor or acute illnesses and injuries, provide diagnostic screenings and sports and school physicals. It has a lab and pharmacy on site. The health center accepts most major insurance, Medicaid and Medicare. It also accepts people without insurance and charges them based on family size and income.

Meanwhile, the federally-qualified health center is no longer accepting obgyn patients at its Alafaya center on Colonial Drive. Patients will now be accommodat­ed at the clinic’s other branches in Sanford and Hoffner.

Places

Nemours has opened a Children’s Urgent Care clinic in Kissimmee at 750 Centerview Blvd. The clinic accepts newborns up to age 21. This will be the sixth urgent care center for Nemours in Central Florida.

The health system is also opening its 13th Children’s Primary Care location in Central Florida at 1149 Rinehart Road in Seminole County. Dr. Cristy Wong, a board-certified pediatrici­an, is its primary care provider.

Central Florida Regional Hospital, an affiliate of HCA, is opening a freestandi­ng emergency department in Deltona, similar to Oviedo and Hunters Creek. The new ER is expected to open toward the end of 2016.

Poinciana Medical Center, an HCA North Florida hospital, has completed its vertical expansion, doubling private patient bed total. The $26 million project added 46 beds and 40,000 square feet to the existing hospital.

Cornerston­e Hospice has opened a care center at Orlando Health, creating a hospital-based hospice. The center provides palliative and end-of-life care.

Community Health Centers has received a $50,000 grant from the American Cancer Society to educate women about reducing their risk of breast cancer and the importance of regular cancer screenings. The grant also provides 156 free mammograms to uninsured women ages 50 to 74.

The Joint Chiropract­ic has opened a new clinic at 8081 Turkey Lake Road in Orlando. The clinic is owned by SJD Wellness and managed by The Joint Corp., a health-care franchiser. The practice offers plans and packages instead of accepting health insurance. No appointmen­ts are necessary.

David Strong, Orlando Health president and CEO, is now a member of the board of directors for Florida Chamber of Commerce.

“His business expertise, particular­ly in the health care industry, will be a tremendous asset to the Chamber as we work to secure Florida’s future,” said Steve Knopik, immediate past chair of the Florida Chamber board and CEO of Beall’s Inc., in a news release.

Donielle Dietz of Sanford was recognized by the American Cancer Society with the Florida Distinguis­hed Service Award. The award is presented each year to recognize volunteers with outstandin­g contributi­ons to fight against cancer in the Florida Division.

Osceola incentive

Orlando-based genericdru­g maker Generic Specialtie­s Inc. was approved for incentive money in Osceola County to build a new facility with about $20 million invested over three years.

The company has said it will create 128 new jobs over three years, with an average salary of $38,000, in the area of injectable drug manufactur­ing.

Osceola’s Board of County Commission­ers voted 5-0 to approve the incentive package, to encourage the company to locate in Osceola. The package would include $512,000 from the state of Florida and $128,000 from Osceola

County.

Shelby replicas

Orlando-based Revology Cars has announced that it secured a license to produce replica classic Shelby Mustangs.

Revology’s production facility opened this summer to make licensed replicas for the classic 1960s Mustang. Now California-based Carroll Shelby Internatio­nal is confirming that it granted Revology the Shelby license.

The license is for limited replica production of the 1966 GT350 and GT350H. The first Shelby replicas should be ready by next spring, Scarpello says.
