Fisher won’t comment on LSU job

-

TALLAHASSEE — FSU coach Jimbo Fisher is widely rumored to be a candidate for the LSU coaching job if the Tigers part ways with current coach Les Miles.

Speaking about other jobs — vacant or not — is “unprofessional” and “disrespectful,” according to Fisher.

The coach was asked what he thought about the LSU rumors during his news conference Monday, at roughly the same time Miles was holding his weekly news conference.

“I have no comment on that,” Fisher said. “I have a policy: I don’t speak about jobs. That’s unfair to the players that are there, the players that are here and the coaches here and there. There’s no job opening. That’s a policy that I have. I’m not going to comment on any job in any way, shape or form.”

Fisher later added: “At the same time, when someone asks you in recruiting, I look at it as a positive. That means we’re doing things right here.”

■ Linebacker Ro’Derrick Hoskins left Saturday’s game against Chattanooga with a knee injury, but Fisher said the ailment is not as serious as originally believed.

“He may sit out today, but he’s walking on his own,” Fisher said. “He’s moving around a lot better. Very excited about that.”

■ Fisher was asked Monday whether he has a favorite memory versus Florida: “Yeah, four of them.” Fisher, as a head coach, has a 4-1 record against the Gators.

Next game: No. 14 FSU at No. 8 Florida, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, ESPN
