Ramsey fired up to take on Gators

- Brendan Sonnone

TALLAHASSEE — FSU players have come to expect the same thing from Jalen Ramsey every week.

No player practices with more intensity than Ramsey, day in and day out. So it came as no surprise to anyone that Ramsey dominated FSU’s first practice as the Seminoles began preparing for rival Florida.

“I know that Jalen has a point to prove,” FSU cornerback back Marquez White said. “Just the way he started in [individual drills], the way he was in warm-ups, the way he was in tempo drills, he really came to work like he had something to prove. He’s always really detailed. You could just tell the look on his face that he was serious when he came to practice today.”

The All-American defensive back is perhaps a little more dialed in than usual. Not just because of the rivalry, but also because the Gators field Vernon Hargreaves III. Each player believes he is the best cornerback in the country.

“Jalen’s the best practice player that I’ve been around in the past three years here,” FSU quarterback Sean Maguire said.

Routinely going against a player like Ramsey in practice gives Maguire a little extra confidence entering Saturday’s matchup versus Hargreaves.

“I like to go throw at Jalen in practice,” Maguire said with a smile. “It’s fun when you complete a ball on him because then he starts crying.”
