BASEBALL: Jorge Vazquez hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting Mexico’s Mazatlan Venados to a 5-4 comeback victory over Venezuela’s Aragua Tigres for the Caribbean Series championsh­ip in Santo Domingo, Domincan Republic. It was Mexico’s third title in four years. Reliever Steven Hensley earned the win after coming in to retire Venezuela’s final batter in the top of the ninth.

BASKETBALL: Clippers G Austin Rivers broke his left hand during Wednesday’s loss to Timberwolv­es. He will be re-evaluated Monday in Los Angeles but likely will be out four to six weeks, ESPN.com reported. ... G

GOLF: Hideki Matsuyama beat Rickie Fowler on the fourth hole of a playoff to win the Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Ariz. Matsuyama and Fowler both shot 4-under 67 in the final round to finish regulation at 14under 270, but Fowler blew a two-shot lead with two holes to play after hitting two balls in the water on the par-4 17th. He also found the same hazard in the playoff to give the 23-year-old Matsuyama his second career PGA Tour victory. ... NFL: Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch told people close to him he plans to retire, ESPN reported. Lynch, who turns 30 in April, is a five-time Pro Bowl pick and has 9,112 rushing yards and 74 TDs in nine seasons.

SOCCER: Manchester United and Chelsea played to a 1-1 draw in a Premier League match in London. Jesse Lingard scored for United, but Diego Costa tallied the equalizer in stoppage time. Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink said after the match that defender Kurt Zouma suffered what looks like a “bad” knee injury. He will be reevaluate­d Monday. In other league action,

Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlai­n scored in an 88-second span during the first half to lead Arsenal to a 2-0 road win over Bournemout­h. It was third-place Arsenal’s first win in its last four matches. ... La Liga leader Barcelona beat last-place and host Levante 2-0 to tie the club’s all-time record of 28 straight matches without a loss.
