AROUND THE HORN

-

Rangers: OF Josh Hamilton will miss the entire season after more surgery on his left knee. The Rangers said Monday the 35-year-old Hamilton, who has been on the disabled list all season, will have surgery June 8. The 2010 AL MVP and five-time All-Star had surgery twice on the knee last year and then had soreness caused by an inflamed capsule behind his left knee after getting to spring training.

Marlins: OF Ichiro Suzuki had four hits, including a single in a two-run eighth inning, as the Marlins rallied past the Rays 7-6. Suzuki, 42, has 10 hits in the last three games to raise his average to .417 and increase his career hit total to 2,960.

Tigers: RHP Jordan Zimmermann is expected to miss at least one start, but manager Brad Ausmus said he’s more optimistic now than he was Sunday, when the right-hander left his start in the sixth inning with a right groin strain. Ausmus said Zimmermann has a Grade 1 strain, which is the lowest level.

Royals: OF Alex Gordon is headed to the disabled list because of a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand. Gordon, who was injured in a collision with Mike Moustakas in Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the White Sox and initially diagnosed with a sprained wrist, is expected to miss three to four weeks. Moustakas is considered “day to day” because of a contu- sion on the outside of his knee.

Pirates: RHP Ryan Vogelsong was carted off the field after getting struck in the head by a pitch in the second inning of a 6-3 win over the Rockies. With the bases loaded and the Pirates leading 1-0, Rockies starter Jordan Lyles hit Vogelsong in the left cheek with a 92-mph fastball. The Pirates later said he was admitted to the hospital for injuries to his left eye.

Mets: 1B Lucas Duda is expected to be out at least four to six weeks with a stress fracture in his lower back. The Mets placed Duda on the 15-day disabled list with the back problem that had been bothering him for some time.
