Try British system
After watching the debacles caused by outsiders at both the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee, I wonder if it’s not time that both parties take a page out of the British parliamentary system. This would prevent outsiders from hijacking parties.
In the British system the leader of the party has to be someone who is already a member of the Parliament. After proving him/herself as a leader and team player capable of being elected by the constituency, then, at the closed party convention, he/she is elected by the members to head the party.
No way can someone walk off the street because he’s a billionaire, or be independent and all of a sudden he becomes a “convert” so he can run to be the head of a British party. Our system is ludicrous and needs to change.
