Hold an open-floor vote
Now that we know the Democratic nomination procedure was rigged, Hillary Clinton should void the results and throw the nomination to an open-floor vote.
James I. Burkhardt On your knees, Bernie fans
To those Sanders supporters who are still feeling the “Bern,” I have this word of advice:
After watching the opening of the Democratic National Convention, you should be down on your knees thanking the Democratic Party for its gracious treatment of your
candidate. The party allowed Bernie (an independent) to ride on the Democratic ticket. How do you think your candidate (and revolution) would have fared under the Republican banner? Bernie would have met the same fate as the other 15 or 16 candidates.
It is time to show support and respect for the party choice: Hillary Clinton/Tim Kaine.
Bernie says he will.
Joan Ricketts What a difference this week
On Monday night, the speakers at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia were diverse, hopeful and inspirational. The delegates were feisty, loyal and inspired. The overarching themes were love and respect for each other and country. It was a welcome relief listening to responsible adults lay out a positive direction for America.
William Higgins Brits’ system? I prefer ours
If I understand the British parliamentary system correctly, to become the leader of a party, one must come into the party as an underling, be groomed and indoctrinated by the party, show you comply with the majority of the party, and then you may lead the party.
Can’t say I like that system any more than the one we have.
Chuck Shultz I-4, aquifer pollution
Did I really see some pipes being driven more than 400 feet deep into the ground along the Interstate 4 project? I thought the confined aquifer that provides the water we drink, in some locations, is at that depth. Now we’re building a highway to pollute our drinking water with these direct conduits to the aquifer.
