DP wins over Wekiva
No. 3 Dr. Phillips (1-0) scored four touchdowns in the first half and beat visiting Wekiva (0-1) 28-7.
Marvin Washington threw for 150 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers. Devodney Alford ran for 35 yards and a touchdown on four carries and caught three passes for 35 yards.
“It was a good start to a good season,” Dr. Phillips head coach Rodney Wells said. “I'm particularly proud of Marvin. He made all the right reads, all the right throws.”
Tanner Ingle scored on an 80-yard kickoff return.
Dr. Phillips' defense shut out Wekiva until the final minute of the game.
Jaylon Fair rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries for Wekiva.
