COLLEGE FOOTBALL: ACC officials are visiting Orlando, Fla., for two days as part of the process in determining whether to relocate the conference’s title game to Camping World Stadium, ESPN reported. The ACC said it was pulling the title game from Charlotte because of North Carolina’s controversial House Bill 2 law, which limits the legal protection for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. The ACC’s executive committee must approve the new championship sites . ... WR Matt VandeBerg will miss Iowa’s game against Northwestern on Saturday after he injured his foot during practice Monday . ... The Colonials fired Mike Lonergan earlier this month after an investigation into allegations of verbal abuse . ... Florida confirmed that it hired Scott Stricklin as athletic director. Stricklin held the same job at Mississippi State. He replaces Jeremy Foley, who will retire Saturday after serving in the position for 25 years.
HOCKEY: John “Jack” Kirrane Jr., the captain of the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics, died Sunday outside of Boston due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 88. NBA: Two-time reigning league MVP

SOCCER: Sam Allardyce left his position as England manager by mutual consent after just one match in charge of the team. Allardyce was filmed advising undercover journalists on how to circumvent rules against third-party ownership, the Daily Telegraph reported. The FA confirmed that under-21 manager Gareth Southgate will take charge of the senior squad for the next four matches against Malta, Slovenia, Scotland and Spain while the search for a permanent manager takes place . ...
