Dawgs’ top tacklers cleared to play

- Associated Press

Georgia’s two leading tacklers will be able to play against No. 14 Florida after being cleared in a marijuana investigation. The school announced Monday that inside linebackers

Natrez Patrick and Roquan Smith violated no university policies that would require a suspension.

Athletics director Greg McGarity said the investigation “included drug testing, which was negative for both studentathletes.”

Police were called to Patrick's dormitory room shortly after an Oct. 15 loss to Vanderbilt. A resident assistant reported the smell of pot, but no drugs were found and neither player was charged.

Patrick is the Bulldogs’ leader with 42 tackles, followed by Smith with 39. Both are sophomores.

BUCKEYES COPE: If there is panic and unrest in the Ohio State camp after Saturday's upset loss at Penn State, nobody was displaying it Monday.

Coach Urban Meyer said he doesn’t foresee any major personnel changes or adjustments in play-calling after the Buckeyes’ 24-21 loss in Happy Valley.

“The sun came up,” Ohio State guard Billy Price said after the loss dropped the Buckeyes from No. 2 to No. 6 in the AP Top 25 poll. “We've been here before. [Losing] isn’t an occurrence that happens often, but we grow from this, we get tighter together and ... we don’t worry about anything else.”
