Otronicon goes all adult for 1 night

-

Otronicon and Science Night Live, two mainstays of Orlando Science Center, are colliding Saturday to create an all-adult tech experience.

The Science Night event will present Otronicon activities as an extra-ticket, after-hours event for folks ages 21 and older. It will spotlight interactive technology, virtual-reality demonstrations and video games.

Other activities will include ArcAttack, a band with singing Tesla coils; friendly laser battles on the museum’s SunTrust Center; and keynote speaker Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, launch director for NASA’s Ground Systems Development and Operations Program.

Walt Disney World Resort will showcase how it uses simulation to design attractions; Lockheed Martin will present a helicopter flight simulator for the first time; and Florida Hospital for Children brings a new model of its robotic-assisted surgery system.

On top of that, there will be adult beverages and small plates for sale.

The hours for Science Night Live are 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Admission is $15.95.

The main Otronicon event, which is marking its 12th year, runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Monday. The regular cost is $19.95 ($13.95 for ages 3-11). An Otronicon ticket on Saturday does not include admission to Science Night Live.

Advance tickets are available at otronicon.org/attend.
