- Gal Tziperman Lotan

Family members, bystanders and good Samaritans can be hurt or killed when domestic disputes escalate into violence. Here are a few recent cases in Central Florida:

Markeith Loyd is charged with shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, outside her family’s Orange County home on Dec. 13, 2016, and critically injuring her brother. Loyd also is accused of murdering Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton when she tried to arrest him nearly a month later.

Henry Brown hid in the trunk of his estranged wife’s car outside a Seminole County Chili's Grill & Bar on Lake Mary Boulevard on April 17, 2016. He stabbed Chericia Brown, then got into a car and ran her over, also hitting and wounding a nurse and a paramedic who rushed to help her. Chericia Brown died of her injuries. Brown later shot and killed the couple’s children, 1 and 4 years old, and then killed himself.

Bradford Baumet walked into his exgirlfriend’s hair salon in Casselberry on Oct. 18, 2012. He shot and killed three people inside — Eugenia “Mari” Marte, Noelia Gonzalez-Brito and Gladys Cabrera — and injured his ex-girlfriend, Marcia Santiago. Earlier that day, he had killed his ex’s new boyfriend, Roberto Colon, and stolen his car.

Michelet Polynice opened fire in the hotel where his ex-girlfriend worked near International Drive on Sept. 27, 2012, killing Carlene Pierre and her co-worker, Vanessa Gonzalez-Orellanes.
