TALLAHASSEE – Florida State’s Dalvin Cook hopes scouts and executives view him as “today’s” NFL running back.

But as Cook works his way toward becoming a professional football player, his trials and tribulations off the football field continue to be a topic of conversation less than a month removed from the NFL draft.

Cook, who is widely considered a first-round prospect, ran the 40-yard dash and performed numerous position drills and simulations during Florida State’s pro day event on Tuesday.

Unofficial times had Cook running between 4.40 and 4.43 seconds, short of the 4.49 time he posted during the NFL Scouting Combine last month.

But Cook was more concerned with catching passes out of the backfield to display his ability to be a multi-purpose running back, similar to Dallas Cowboys standout Ezekiel Ellliott, at the next level.

“I feel like I came out here today, ran the routes they wanted me to run and caught every ball,” Cook
