Deputies say high-level drug dealer is arrested in Eustis

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office busted a “high-level” drug dealer and recovered $30,000 worth of ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine and guns during a raid Thursday in Groveland, deputies said.

Perry G. Garrett III faces a slew charges, including traffickin­g in cocaine and MDMA ecstasy, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Deputies conducted a search warrant on his apartment in the 700 block of Parkwood Street, which is within 1,000 feet of Groveland Middle School, officials said.

They recovered about 6 ounces of cocaine, more than 500 MDMA ecstasy pills and about 2 pounds of high-grade marijuana.

According to deputies, they also seized two handguns, one of which was stolen from a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, two AR-15 rifles, both with fully-loaded 30-round magazines, and more than $7,000 in cash.

Garrett was taken to the Lake County Jail; $441,000.

Florida Department of Correction­s records show he served two stints in prison for cocaine-related charges and fleeing and eluding law enforcemen­t with no regard for public safety.

He was released say.

Deputies also arrested five other people Wednesday in an unrelated case in Eustis.

They seized “street-level” amounts of meth, heroin, marijuana and drug parapherna­lia, according to deputies. They did not specify how much was actually recovered.

Those arrested were: Kendra M. Williams, 24; Shannon L. Puckelwart­z, 43; William D. Insco, 39; Troy E. Fechtler, 32; and Joseph C. Williams, 30. Deputies said the suspects, who either resided at the home in the 1200 block of South Dewey Street or were there during the raid, all face various drug charges. All were taken to the Lake County Jail.
