Pens win in OT, put Jackets on brink

Jake Guentzel had a hat trick, including a goal at 13:10 of overtime, to lift the Penguins to a 5-4 victory over the host Blue Jackets on Sunday night and give them a 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.

Bryan Rust added two goals for the Penguins, and Marc-Andre Fleury overcame a shaky first period to make 33 saves. Guentzel is the first Penguins rookie to get a playoff hat trick.

The defending champions Columbus on Tuesday night.

After scoring only two goals combined in the first two games of the series, the Blue Jackets scored three goals in just over six minutes of the first period.

But the Penguins regained their composure and pushed back hard during the second period to tie the score 3-3. will go for the sweep in

Jaden Schwartz scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and Jake Allen made 40 saves to lead the Blues past the visiting Wild for a 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.

Colton Parayko also scored for the Blues, and Alexander Steen added an empty-netter. The Blues will try to sweep the series Wednesday night in St. Louis.

Charlie Coyle scored for the Wild, who got 28 saves from Devan Dubnyk.

Artturi Lehkonen, Shea Weber and Alexander Radulov scored and Carey Price stopped 17 shots to lead the Canadiens past the Rangers in Madison Square Garden.

The victory puts the Canadiens up 2-1 in their series with Game 4 set for Tuesday night in New York.

Ryan Getzlaf scored the tiebreakin­g powerplay goal with 4:46 to play, and the Ducks beat the Flames 3-2 late Saturday to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round series.
