Central Florida Christian Academy has named former Port Orange Spruce Creek standout as its new head football coach.

Campbell, a reserve linebacker at Clemson from 2006-09, replaces , who led the Eagles to a 4-6 finish in his one season on the job.

Campbell spent the past five years serving as associate head coach and defensive coordinator for former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back at St. Petersburg Northside Christian School.

Campbell began coaching in 2010 as defensive coordinator at Northside under

who is now head coach at Faith Christian.

After leaving for Tampa Robinson in 2011, Campbell returned to Northside and helped the Mustangs claim their fist regional title in 30 years this past fall.

Much to the chagrin of longtime Lake Mary coach his boys and girls tennis teams go in different directions for FHSAA region finals today.

That means Reagan must arrange for a Lake Mary coach of another sport to accompany his undefeated girls team to their match at Gainesville Buchholz. Reagan will travel with the boys team to Orange Park to play Fleming Island. Both matches start at 3 p.m.

“It’s a rule they need to change,” Reagan said. “All of the schools in Seminole County have one coach for boys and girls and I know a lot of other schools do as well.”

Reagan is nearing retirement after 30 years of teaching, but said he still enjoys his work in his 29th season as a coach.

“A situation like this is a little stressful. But coaching is fun. I enjoy it.”

The Lake Mary girls are 14-0 with three freshman playing key roles. Four of the five starters are undefeated in singles, led by ninth grade No. 1

Other undefeated teams entering today’s matches are the Montverde Academy boys (9-0) and the Port Orange Atlantic girls (12-0), who host Lake Highland Prep in a rematch from district play. Atlantic has three unbeaten singles players — led by sisters and at the top of the lineup.

Region winners advance to next week’s state tournaments in Seminole County.
