Henry Dorvil’s plight; rebuild infrastructure.

-

Henry Dorvil came to this country from Haiti legally as a 5-month-old. Since that time, his father and sister became naturalized citizens, his mother obtained legal residence, and his brother (born here) is serving in the U.S. armed forces. After realizing a mistake, Henry returned to Haiti to rectify the problem and to follow the law so that he could return home legally. He is now caught in a nightmare.

Whether his situation is the result of overzealous application of existing immigration law or is a case deliberately amplified by an anti-Trump bureaucracy, I do not know; nor do I care. The result is still the same. Dorvil is not able to return home.

Each case like Dorvil’s must be considered individually. This is necessarily a time-consuming process given the world we live in today. Additionally, this is not something that should ever be considered on a group basis, as many on the left desire; nor should it be an automatic disqualification from being allowed to live here, as some on the right desire.

Until a permanent policy or law comes into existence, this case screams out for immediate Florida congressional delegation intervention. This appears to be a case of a good man attempting to do right by following the law. He wants to continue being a contributing and valuable asset to his Sanford community and to this nation. If the news report is true, it is time to stop the politics, and bring Dorvil home. Irving Freedman Altamonte Springs
