In the name game, Caitlyn takes tumble
R.I.P., Caitlyn. I don’t mean the actual person. I mean the name.
Social Security’s annual list of the most popular baby names has come out, and the four names that dropped the most in 2016 were Caitlin, Caitlyn, Katelynn and Kaitlynn.
I have no idea why that happened, but it made me wonder which sports figure has a name nobody would want.

On a personal note, shortly after a retired Olympic decathlon champion announced he was changing his name to Caitlyn in 2015, we adopted a stray kitten. In honor of the lost name, I persuaded my kids to name him Bruce.
I will keep readers posted if he decides to change his name to Caitlyn.
