The public image of Jason Kreis is one of an unfeeling, unflinchin­g robo-coach who has been computer-programmed to possess ultra-intensity and laserfocus.

And then you get him in a private moment talking about being a father to his two teenage sons and, suddenly, he turns into a laughing, crying ball of emotion and devotion.

“For me, being a father is everything,” Kreis says with a smile splashed across his face.
