After a tough home loss to Houston last weekend, the Orlando Pride hoped that a midweek game would give the team a chance to quickly get back on track.

The Pride took advantage of that opportunit­y on Wednesday night, defeating host Sky Blue FC 3-2 in New Jersey thanks to a pair of goals in the final 13 minutes.

“Games are not boring, that’s for sure,” Pride coach Tom Sermanni said. “A lot of credit has to go to the players for keeping in the game, plugging away and just working hard and kept at them and kept at them and they got rewarded.”

Both teams got off to a slow start to the match but, after a few minutes, the Pride started getting some looks and ended up capitalizi­ng on one early.

After failing to take advantage of a shot in the box just a couple minutes earlier, Chioma Ubogagu found herself with the ball once again in the 11th minute. She got past her defender in the box, dribbled toward the goal and fired a shot into the far side of the net, giving the Pride (4-4-3, 15 points) an early 1-0 lead.

It would have been a short-lived advantage if not for Pride goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe.

Just a few minutes after the goal, Ali Krieger pulled down Daphne Corboz in the box, earning Sky Blue (5-6-1, 16 points) a penalty. Sarah Killion, who entered the game tied with Marta for first in the NWSL in goals, took the kick
