-

C.J. Sapong, Ilson Pereira and Roland Alberg scored and the host Philadelphia Union beat the New England Revolution 2-0 on Sunday.

Sapong converted from the spot after Benjamin Angoua was called for a handball in the area in the fourth minute. Pereira side-netted a first-time half-volley in the opening minutes of the second half. Fabrice JeanPicault, on the right flank, lofted an entry to a charging Ilsinho who put it away from the right corner of the 6-yard box.

Alberg capped the scoring — moments after coming on for Pereira — in the 78th, blasting a right-footer into the top-right corner from well outside the box.

Philadelphia has won two in a row after losing three straight. Andre Blake had three saves for his second consecutive shutout and his seventh of the season. The 26-year-old had eight career shutouts coming into this season.

Salinas put in a strike from the right side for his first goal of the year and a victory before 50,617 fans at Stanford Stadium. He came into the game in the 65th minute.

The Earthquakes were playing their first game under Chris Leitch, the former player who made his MLS coaching debut after the team fired head coach Dom Kinnear and assistant coach John Spencer last Sunday. Leitch had been the team’s technical director. San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski tied it in the 75th minute when he outran the Galaxy defense to Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham’s long kick. It was Wondolowski’s seventh goal of the season.

Defenseman Jelle Van Damme scored his first goal in 46 career MLS starts with a hard volley off his left foot in the 11th minute for Los Angeles, capitalizing on Jose Villarreal’s cross off a free kick from the left side.

Nemanja Nikolic scored two early goals, pushing his MLS-leading total to 16, and host Chicago beat Vancouver to take the Eastern Conference lead.

The Fire have won four straight and are 8-0-2 in their last 10. Vancouver had its three-game unbeaten streak snapped.

Roland Lamah scored two goals to lead host FC Dallas past Toronto FC, knocking the Canadian club out of first place in the Eastern Conference.

Maximiliano Urruti added a goal and an assist for Dallas, which continued its home dominance of Toronto, having never lost in nine meetings.

Daniel Salloi scored his first career MLS goal in the second half and host Sporting Kansas City tied Portland to remain unbeaten at home.

Salloi took a delivery from Roger Espinoza, settled the ball and found the top corner in the 60th minute. Sporting KC leads the Western Conference and is 6-0-3 at home.

Atlanta struck in the 27th minute when the Crew defense didn’t get a touch on Kann’s goal kick, and Villaba beat goalkeeper Zach Steffen to the ball. Villalba picked up his eighth goal in the 64th minute when a deflection to the middle of the box ended up on his foot and he rolled the ball between a defender’s legs passed the shielded Steffen. Villalba immediately left the game with cramps.

Blerim Dzemaili scored and set up defender Chris Duval’s goal in a two-minute span in the first half to help host Montreal beat D.C. United.
