ULA lands a Florida mission for Air Force

United Launch Alliance has landed a contract to send an experiment­al burst-detection system into space for the U.S. Air Force from Florida. The $191.1 million mission, which would deliver the agency’s Space Test Program-3 into orbit, is scheduled for June 2019.

The satellite will head into space aboard ULA’s Atlas V 551 vehicle.

United Launch Alliance has faced stiff competitio­n for government contracts from SpaceX, which landed Space Test Program-2, a launch expected to take off from Florida in the third quarter of this year.

SpaceX’s launch cadence has been been steady this year, with a launch planned for Sunday.

United Launch Alliance’s next Florida launch is set for Aug. 3.

The service, which offers live programmin­g from ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN and other regional networks, will expand into 10 new markets, including Central Florida, in the next couple of weeks.

YouTube TV will directly compete with streaming companies such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, which have taken a large bite of the overall TVviewing market. It’s also similar to services such as Sling, Playstatio­n Vue and DirecTV Now.

In April, YouTube TV service launched in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Philadelph­ia.

Along with Orlando, the latest expansion will reach Dallas-Fort Worth; Washington, D.C.; Houston; Atlanta; Phoenix; Detroit; Minneapoli­s-St. Paul; Miami-Fort Lauderdale; and Charlotte. will cost highlight the first group of speakers that will appear at OrlandoiX.

The third-year tech conference takes place Aug. 17-20 at Full Sail University.

The four-day event is split into two days of speakers and two days of a digital expo that will show off local game developmen­t studios and new technology.

Here are the first speakers:

Jonathan Faunce: Creative director for HTC’s virtual reality platform Vive.

John Baldechhi: Movie and television producer who has worked on movies like the “Point Break” reboot and “The Mexican.”

John Linden: President of Seismic games in Los Angeles, which produces mobile games and mixedreali­ty experience­s.

Rob Vickery: Cofounder of Stage Venture Partners in Los Angeles. The seed fund focuses on software startups, according to an OrlandoiX release.

Cathy Hackl: Emmynomina­ted speaker advocates regularly for virtual and augmented reality.

Chance Glasco: This Full Sail University graduate is one of the founding members of the game studio Infinity Ward.
