Sentencing for the teenager charged with witness tampering in the death of a Winter Park High School student was postponed to coincide with the Aug. 17-18 trials of the two teens charged with manslaughter in the killing of 15-year-old Roger Trindade.

Attorneys for the three teenagers came to court Friday to tell Judge Sally Kest where they stand on the case, which has about 80 listed witnesses. Prosecutor Teri Mills-Uvalle said she has narrowed her witness list to about 25 people.

“It just makes it lengthy, when you have so many witnesses,” said David Fussell, who is representing one of the teens charged with manslaughter.

The Orlando Sentinel is not naming the teens because they are minors whom prosecutors decided not to charge as adults. None of them were in court Friday.

The 15-year-old charged with witness tampering also faces a battery charge, though it was not battery on Roger, his attorney has said. He pleaded no contest to the charges in January.

Roger was found unconscious on Park Avenue the evening of Oct. 15 after a fight broke out. The attack has not been publicly described in more detail, and juvenile court documents are not public. He died in a hospital two days later of a brain hemorrhage caused by a blunt-force head injury, the Orange-Osceola medical examiner ruled.

Roger came to the Orlando area from Brazil with his parents in January 2016. He lived in Baldwin Park and attended Winter Park High School. His family has since moved back to Brazil.
