in Daytona Beach after they said she drank alcohol with her underage daughter and did not initially seek medical assistance when the girl became ill.

A man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after he rear-ended an Orange County Sheriff ’s Office deputy early Friday, sending her to Florida Hospital South with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Apopka Police Department.

Sonny Almanza, 25, was driving his gray Nissan Sentra when he struck the Chevrolet Impala driven by Deputy Cheyenne Dasilva, according to an arrest report.

The accident, which resulted in $7,000 in damages to each car, occurred at 4:15 a.m. at Benbow Court and Orange Blossom Trail, according to the report.

The report said Almanza acted suspiciously, locking his car with his vehicle remote whenever a deputy would walk by it.

Deputies discovered around 70 grams of marijuana along with a scale and a grinder inside his car.

Cocaine was also found in the vehicle, according to the report.

He told deputies the drugs were for his personal use and admitted to smoking earlier, according to the report.

The report said Almanza had slurred speech, eyelid tremors and bloodshot eyes.

A breath test didn’t find him to be impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash, said Ashley Eller, an Apopka Police Department public information officer.

Almanza was arrested for marijuana possession in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014, according to the report.

He faces charges of DUI property damage or personal injury along with several drug charges related to possession of cannabis or drug paraphernalia.

He was being held on a total bond of $2,400, according to the Orange County Jail.
