‘Animal Farm’ and casino fight
Scott Maxwell’s column concerning Disney's selective voting process was excellent (“Casino fight: Disney seeks voters’ aid … this time”). It makes me think of George Orwell and “Animal Farm” and the final rewrite of the constitution.

Give economy a chance to thrive
Many Americans remain concerned about the economy. Our research shows these anxieties are not misplaced. The U.S. economy has become less dynamic since the Great Recession — more businesses have closed than opened, the rate of new business formation remains low, and workers are finding it difficult to change jobs, move and earn higher wages.
The economic growth we see is concentrated in major metro areas, bypassing the 50 million Americans living in economically distressed communities.
Thankfully, across Florida, U.S. Reps. Carlos Curbelo, Thomas Rooney and Darren Soto have co-sponsored the Investing in Opportunity Act, bipartisan legislation designed to inject new life into America's economic engine through an innovative approach that connects “left behind” communities with long-term investments.
This legislation would be particularly helpful for Florida, where 17 percent of the population lives in distressed ZIP codes and continues to face economic headwinds despite years of national recovery.
At a time when the American Dream seems in doubt for many, these policymakers are working to give every Florida community the chance to thrive. Steve Glickman John Lettieri Co-founders of the Economic Innovation Group, a bipartisan research, policy and advocacy organization WASHINGTON, D.C.
If Democrats worked with GOP?
In other news: A guest editorial from the Baltimore Sun in the Orlando Sentinel suggested that Republicans work with Democrats to fix the Affordable Care Act.
Why is it always the Republicans who are the obstructionists? They are the reason the government shut down, because of budget problems, and they’re blamed for any other problems.
I suggest that Democrats work with Republicans for a change. Pat McKendall Lake Mary
