Mainland slips at home

The 30-game regular-season home win streak for Daytona Beach Mainland ended Monday, dropping the Bucs two spots in this week’s Sentinel Super 16 football rankings.

Mainland lost to St. Johns Bartram Trail 35-24 in a game that was postponed from Friday due to inclement weather.

Several Super 16 teams had Friday outings interrupte­d by storms.

No. 7 Bishop Moore avoided an upset on the road at then-No. 15 Lake Brantley when their game resumed Saturday morning. The Hornets got 140 yards rushing and two touchdowns from Trilion Coles in a 35-34 comeback win.

A Super 16 matchup pitting Wekiva at Winter Park is now set for Thursday night.

1. Apopka (1-0): Blue Darters led Miami Norland 14-7 at halftime before game was postponed to date to be determined.

2. (3) Osceola (2-0): Malcolm Davidson rushed for four TDs in less than three quarters in 47-14 win vs. St. Cloud.

6. Jones (0-1): Tigers led 13-0 entering second quarter vs. Oak Ridge in a game to be continued Monday, Sept. 11.

7. Bishop Moore (2-0): Hornets defended two-point conversion attempt in final moments for 35-34 win vs. Lake Brantley. 8. Orange City University (0-1): Week

2 game at Sebastian River canceled. 9. Winter Park (2-0): Cameron LeGree tossed four touchdowns and ran for another in 42-6 win over Oviedo (0-2). 10. Lake Mary (1-0): Off last week. 11. Seminole (1-0): Rivalry game at DeLand was postponed after one half with Seminoles leading 3-0. 12. Hagerty (1-0): Huskies and Winter Springs will play postponed game Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. 13. Boone (1-0): Last Friday’s artificial turf debut vs. Lake Nona was postponed. 14. (15) Lake Brantley (0-2): Patriots rushed for 561 yards in loss vs. No. 7 Bishop Moore.

16. (NR) Olympia (2-0): Titans opened season with close wins over West Orange (0-1) and Ocoee (0-2).
